What will become of me?

5 Days 'Till Christmas

There was another song I wanted to post before this, but the album is brand new, so there isn't much material from it on YoutTube yet. So, I'm going to include this as a Christmas Song. Not sure if it was intended as one, but what the hell. They lyrics speak for themselves. Most badass Christmas Song evar.

Ok, did lots of running around today!

I got Freedom Call's album, "Stairway to Fairlyland", and let me say that these guys bring the 'Holy Shit' to the party.  It's like having a Tolkinesque fantasy novel suddenly explode into power metal. It was so awesome it actually made my eyes water; no shitting.

Music is very important to me.  I spent the greater part of my youth not listening to music, because I could not hear the radio very well due to my hearing condition.  I had a few of my parent's tapes, but that was the extent of my auditory pallate, and with the exception of Men At Work and Air Supply, none of them ever struck me with anything special.  About when I was entering High School, I discovered Journey, and they just about changed my life.  I had heard many of their songs before in my youth, but alas, I could never hear the radio announcer say who did them. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they were all by the same group.

The point is this: I'm always looking for a new sound, and thanks to the internet, I've been exposed to many groups I may have not otherwise heard of.  It was indeed a random AIM contact who introduced me to Adema, mremaknu who helped me discover Dream Theater...

And now another of my online friends has shown me Freedom Call.

These guys..apparently they're a German rock group, though they sing in English. I think they tour most heavily in Europe, as I had never heard of them here Stateside before now.

And their songs are awesome.

Imagine heavy metal fairy tales, sung on an epic scale. Soaring vocals and phat chords, remniscient of 80's hair metal. Operatic background vocals. This isn't just rock and roll. It's Legendary Hero Rock And Roll.  I only have three of their songs from their first album, but my standards are, if (3 songs) like = true;  do (buy album).  And I think I'm liking them.

Also, I think Livejournal might be another excellent way to find new music, thanks to the handy music tag.  If any of y'all have any reccomendations, please go ahead and post 'em. I'm always looking for something new. :)
